. Today, I’ve got a smoothie recipe that hits quite a few of the tips, including S for Smoothies of course. This is perfect for this time of year when berries are ripe and local. Plus, it delivers a nutrient-packed serving of raw greens, good fats in the form of chia seeds and coconut water, and tons of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Plus, you know it’s going to be delicious! What we’ll usually do is buy a big batch of organic berries when they are in season and whatever we don’t use right away, we freeze to use throughout the year. Give it a try and let me know what you think over on Facebook. It depends on what you put in them! If you want a non-acidic smoothie, then use high pH produce like citrus fruit, bananas, watermelon and avocado with leafy greens like kale and spinach. You can use alkaline water as a great base to increase the pH of the smoothie.
Low-acid smoothies– fruits like bananas, coconuts, dates + figs, melons, papaya, berries and stone fruits like nectarines and peaches are low acid options. Some examples of alkaline foods are: Fruits, such as apples, cherries, pineapple, avocado, bananas, apricots, and cantaloupe. Non-starchy vegetables, such as broccoli, beets, asparagus, leafy greens, garlic, carrots, and cabbage.
